We know that this is a new term in the care industry of Nigeria. However a nursing home, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU), is a place of residence for people who require constant medical care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. Residents include: the elderly and younger adults with physical disabilities. Adults 18 or older can stay in a nursing home to receive occupational and other rehabilitation therapies following an accident or illness.

Skilled nursing care, though often associated with seniors, does only apply to seniors. There could be need for long-term nursing care due to an injury or illness, or short-term concentrated rehabilitation while recovering from a surgical procedure or acute medical condition. GNCC provides skilled generic healthcare services 24hrs/day.
